Dear project supporters,
Thank you for helping to pave the way to a brighter and better future for young ladies in Sierra Leone. On October 11, 2021, Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) collaborated with the Centre for Transformational Leadership and Development (CTLaD) and Teen Guide Nigeria to celebrate International Day of the Girl child using the theme “The Digital Generation Our Generation”. The purpose of the event was to use the theme to talk to the girls about technology and to discuss issues affecting women and girls in Africa and the world at large. DASL and CTLaD cohosted the virtual event at the DASL office.
Foluso G., transformation coach and executive director of Junior Achievement Nigeria, was the keynote speaker. Theresa H. from Develop Africa Sierra Leone presented on gender serotypes and child sexual abuse. Various speakers from Nigeria and Sierra Leone shared their perspectives on issues affecting women and girls. Twenty-six girls attended the event (fourteen from DASL and twelve from CTLaD). Lunch and transportation were provided to the girls. Each of the girls in attendance expressed their gratitude for the program.
