Educate the Future Leaders of Sierra Leone

Among the schools that benefited from the Year of the Pencil distribution was Emmett Primary School, where 600 students each received a pencil pouch filled with 10 pencils and a sharpener—providing them with essential tools to support their learning.

This distribution addressed a critical and everyday need and brought smiles to each child.  For many students, a pencil is more than a simple school supply—it is a gateway to participation, practice, and progress. Without basic materials, children struggle to fully engage in lessons or complete assignments, even when they are eager to learn.

Today, students at Emmett Primary School have reliable access to the pencils they need to write, practice, and participate with confidence. Teachers also shared that having enough supplies in the classroom reduces disruptions and allows more time to focus on teaching and learning.

We are deeply grateful for your generosity and commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind.  As we move forward in this year, we remain dedicated to empowering and educating students across Sierra Leone.

Students across Sierra Leone are gaining access to critical computer skills through the Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) Computer Training Program.  Students receive hands-on instruction that strengthens digital literacy and prepares them to succeed in today’s technology-driven world.

From learning basic computer operations to mastering key Microsoft Office applications, participants are building practical skills that are increasingly required in secondary school, university, and the workplace.

Foday, one of the students enrolled in the program, shared his heartfelt appreciation, “Thank you to Develop Africa supporters for helping me get computer training. The class is helping me learn a lot.”
