Educate the Future Leaders of Sierra Leone

School is just around the corner.  The Develop Africa Sierra Leone (DASL) team is packing 142 backpacks full of school supplies including- notebooks, erasers, pencils, crayons, rulers, pencil sharpeners, pens, and calculators from the 31 drums that arrived in Freetown in the spring.

The 142 backpacks will be distributed to students from Nursery School through Secondary School in Bo, Kamawornie, Freetown, and Makeni.  Distributions to multiple schools and students will take place over the next few weeks as students get ready to go back to school in September. In addition to school supplies, each of the 142 students will receive tuition support to pay for school. 

Each step of the process of getting school supplies donated, shipped to Sierra Leone, and then distributed to students is only possible because of generous donors like you!  We would greatly appreciate you making a donation to help us reach our goal of $14,796 so that all 142 students get their school supplies and tuition support in September. The students and teacher in Kamawornie village express their gratitude to Develop Africa for their support with the extra classes organized for the children after school.   These afterschool classes do not cost the families anything thanks to generous donors like YOU.

One of the afterschool teachers, Hassan, thanked Develop Africa saying

My name is Hassan, one of the teachers at Develop Africa in Kamawonie.  We are very grateful because these classes motivate the pupils to study and now, they are doing very well, much better than before they were taking extra classes. The parents of these pupils are very happy because the pupils now do extremely well even at home. Thank you very much. 

These extra classes have created an impact on the lives of the beneficiaries living in Kamawornie village, we see wherein students have now developed stronger communication skills and have had the opportunity to focus on their areas of need.  Sometimes students or pupils are afraid to speak when they are in school but extra classes enable the student to interact openly and honestly with their instructors including discussing issues affecting them at home.
