A tour is a great way to expand anyone's mind set.Exploring new places, meeting differrent people, experiencing different cultures - all in one's own country, leads to mental growth and maturity.
The Thabang Marimba team went on a tour to Cape Town. The band did not know what to expect and were surprised to see other South Africans living with such different cultures. This rural Marimba band explored various places and performed to a variety of audiences.
The trip from Thabazimbi to Cape Town took two days. The halfway stop was at Gariep dam, where they learnt about Hydro Electric power.
Arriving at Malmesbury, they were welcomed by many friendly people who provided accommodation for them.
Sight-seeing expanded the children's minds and perceptions. See Picture 1
Going up Table Mountain in a cable-car was awe-inspiring. See Picture 2
Eating Sushi was an explosive experience, which their palettes did not grasp! See picture 3
An amazing experience was has watching a performance by the famous Ndlovu Youth Choir from their home province of Limpopo. Meeting the choir members was the cherry on top! See picture 4
Not only did the Marimba team check out new places and people, but they also showed off their international and award- winning talents. They performed at various sites including: Roots 44 and the V and A Waterfront! Picture 5
