Dear Supporters,
Since first arriving in Ukraine at the end of March, Terra Renaissance staff have weekly delivered food, clothing, medicine, and other relief supplies to internally displaced people and those hosting those people.
However, last Tuesday’s delivery was slightly different from the usual - they were lots of toys, snacks, balloons, and bubble solutions!
The last Sunday of May is Children’s Day in Europe. So it was no surprise that the children were waiting for this day in the western part of Ukraine, where Terra Renaissance is working.
Children who have taken refuge in Kisszelmenc (Mali Selmentsi), near the border of Slovakia, also gathered on Sunday afternoon at the village church with Father Perter.
After Mass, about 60 children and local children received gift bags filled with sweets amidst great enthusiasm. A refugee couple paid for the performance as cash for *social contribution by Terra Renaissance gave a soap bubble performance. The children were so enthralled by the soap bubbles that the soap bubble performance was a whirlwind of enthusiasm.
Both refugee children and local children were delighted, and the refugee couple also benefited from the cash income, a great example of Cash for Social Contribution!
*Cash for Social Contribution (CSC) is a support program that provides opportunities for social contribution (manufacturing or providing services) that the person can make, with maximum respect for the person's independence (freedom as independence), and provides cash in exchange for the contribution. It allows the providers to use the cash to purchase necessary goods and support their own lives. At the same time, social contribution activity by the provider (e.g., a soup kitchen) provides some goods or services (e.g., meals at a soup kitchen) to other people.
