Nikola is a Ukrainian national and was born in 1961. He came to Türkiye after the war began in Ukraine with his son. As an activist artist, he became a target of the Russian soldiers. He was detained for a few days and he had to convince the Russians that he had to take care of his elderly mother in order to be released. After his release, he took his 25-year-old son Dmytro and they moved to Antalya, Türkiye.
Due to the fact that the singer refused to hold concerts under Russian control, he suffered from psychological violence. This period has been tougher than he expected, and he began to deal with some psychological problems, ending with a suicidal attempt which cause disability of him. His treatment has been ongoing, but the medical costs are high, and his access to the hospital is limited.
Nikolai reached Association for Solidarity with Asylum Seekers and Migrants (ASAM). He was provided with several ambulance assistance, legal support for international protection applications, translation of documents, and hospital medical visits by the ASAM. Besides, their ID cards are provided, their insurance is activated and now they can benefit from social rights for free thanks to Asam.
