COVID wasn't just a 4 week virus

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO / President

When we went into lockdown for the first time back in March we all thought it was going to be a few weeks to prepare and then things would go back to normal. But as we all see this was wrong and now people are trying to move on the need for support is growing by the second.

With your support we have been able to fund a number of emergency response projects around the world. Including funding PPE in South Africa, Funding a free phone emergency line for women and children that found themselves victims of domestic abuse due to lockdowns and high rise in unemployment in Zimbabwe. We funded emergency food projects across Latin America and Africa and today we are still funding over 200 daily meals to three townships in South Africa, funding permitting we hope to continue this project until the end of the year as it is a vital lifeline for the majority of those we feed.

We have also been able to fund masks, oxygen for a community hospital in Peru and over in Ghana we have trained 4 teachers and 2 police officers in emergency first response training and provided advanced equipped and PPE ready first aid kits.

This is just a snippet of what we have been doing and now we try to balance our emergency response efforts with rebuilding and support to activate our projects and help everyone try to get back on track or retrain. This comes at a huge cost and we traditionally work in rural and remote locations which means often government funding never makes it to these communities, without you they wouldn’t be able to survive.

As we approach thanksgiving and giving Tuesday we would like to remind you that GlobalGiving is putting up $1million for match funding on 1st December and so we would love for anyone that can to donate again on the 1st so together we can help accelerate our post COVID rebuilding projects in early 2021.

Thank you for continued support
