Fighting hard to survive

By Samirah Faruk | Project Leader

Gone back to traditional processing
Gone back to traditional processing

Dear Supporters, Family and Friends of Serendipity,

The last you heard from us we talked about how our women were coping with COVID 19 and how it affects their business. We had a survey that showed that out of the 40 women thus far trained before the pandemic, only 15% of them have been able to weather the storm.

Upon further investigation we found out that the rest of the 85% of the women had no choice but to divert the initial capital funds given to them to basic needs of survival and now post Lockdown do not have any funds to continue their processing businesses.

Our country is currently in recession as cost of goods and services have gone up leaving the agricultural sector as the worst hit. We then had a meeting with the community based organisation that is overseeing the project in Tofa and it was resolved that a loan should be sought for them through the current programme of survival funds recently launched by the Federal Government of Nigeria. The application has been filled and thus we are waiting for the approval such that the women can go back to their lives pre COVID in helping their households.

We want to thank you for your continued support to our cause to ensuring that we take women out of the cluthches of poverty and assiting their households.

You can follow us on our facebook page for updates on /serenhealthcare, twitter @serendipityHea1 or send us an email on samirah@serendipityhealthcare.org.in or serenhealthcare@gmail.com to give us an advice.

Thank you for your trust and confidence in us.

Best Regards,

Samirah Faruk
