Project Report | Dec 12, 2017
Children feel respected and are self-motivated

By Angelique de la Hogue | Programme Manager

Self-motivated!
Self-motivated!

On behalf of TIPA's team, I would like to renew my gratitude to each of you who have supported our Project by donating through GlobalGiving.

Your contribution has boosted the team's motivation in our engagement towards the empowerment of vulnerable children and parents in Mauritius and has given us the needed resources to implement the activities planned.

Until now, we have reached the following targets this term:

95 creativity classes and 23 planning sessions with teachers were facilitated by TIPA

431 children and 18 teachers participated in the creativity classes

9 parents were reached through parents club

We consider that those who can speak best about the impact of TIPA's action, are the central actors (children, parents and teachers), towards whom our commitment is focused:

"The Rights and Responsibilities Poster is a tool that I like very much because my teacher and TIPA Art Facilitator think together and see with the children which rights and responsibilities we will have in our creativity classes. It helped me to change as I am becoming more attentive and am also listening better to my friends. Also, if I have behaved well, I receive a gold star to encourage my efforts." Grade 4 pupil.

"Absenteeism has reduced on Tuesdays, the day when we have creativity classes. There has been a big change at the level of their behaviour. I see them doing their best to succeed in their artistic activities. The creativity classes contributed a lot, especially between the periods of revision and examination; the children were able to have a break and re-energise." ZEP School teacher.

"I learnt how I must live with my child, how I must speak to him so that he understands me." Parent.

TIPA's action need to be continued on a middle-term basis so that the positive impact on the children's life can be sustained.

Please consider telling your friends and family about our project - share the link on your blogs or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature on the project page to email your network, or just bring us up in conversation. You know your friends and family best, so use your own words - tell them why you chose our project and what it means to you.

Thank you again for all you have done to help this cause.

We have challenging and exciting months ahead of us that will demand our energy, creativity and hard work and we already look forward to the next Report to share the good news and achievements with you!

With gratitude,

Angelique de la Hogue
