Empowering 50 Girls in DRC

1. Context and Rationale

In the provinces of North and South Kivu, the ongoing insecurity and economic hardship continue to expose thousands of young girls to extreme vulnerability. Many have been directly or indirectly affected by armed conflict, forcing them to drop out of school and leaving them without real prospects for the future. With no support or opportunities, some are pushed into harmful survival strategies, including sexual exploitation.

In this context, sustainable solutions are urgently needed. Access to vocational training remains one of the most effective ways to break this cycle of vulnerability.

2. Project Overview

The project “Empower 50 Girls with Vocational Skills in DRC”, led by the AGAPE Training Center, aims to provide vocational training to 50 young girls in mechanics, welding, and fitting starting in November 2025.

These trades, often male-dominated, offer real economic opportunities. By equipping beneficiaries with practical technical skills, the project creates a pathway toward financial independence and social reintegration.

3. Objectives

Overall Objective:
To contribute to the socio-economic empowerment of vulnerable young girls in Eastern DRC.

Specific Objectives:

Provide vocational training to 50 girls in high-demand technical fields
Support their access to employment or self-employment
Reduce risks of exploitation and economic dependency
Restore dignity and self-confidence

4. Current Progress

So far:

The project is in the phase of identifying trainers and beneficiaries
Logistical preparations are ongoing
The official launch is scheduled for November 2025

Thanks to the collaboration with GlobalGiving, initial fundraising efforts have already begun.

5. Budget and Funding

The total project budget is estimated at 10,000 USD.

To date, 50 USD has been raised through early donations via GlobalGiving.

While this amount is still modest, it reflects a meaningful start and growing trust in the project. With continued mobilization and the visibility provided through GlobalGiving, we are confident that the funding goal will be reached.

Hope & Skills for 50 Girls in DRC

1. Context and Justification

For many years, eastern Congo has been facing a deep humanitarian crisis. Recurrent armed conflicts have left thousands of girls traumatized, deprived of education, and exposed to extreme poverty. With no alternatives, many are forced into prostitution to survive.
Without training, support, or opportunities, the cycle of vulnerability continues endlessly.

In response to this reality, the AGAPE Training Center has chosen to take action. In 2025, we will launch a vocational training program in mechanics, welding, and fitting for 50 young girls in Goma and Bukavu. These technical trades are in high demand locally and will open the doors to real and lasting autonomy for them.

2. Project Objectives

Train 50 girls, survivors of war and violence, in technical trades.
Promote financial independence and reduce economic vulnerability.
Restore dignity and self-confidence in these young women.
Create long-lasting community impact by opening new perspectives for families and entire communities.

3. Implementation

We are currently in the preparatory phase of the project:

Identification of qualified trainers;
Selection of the most vulnerable beneficiaries;
Mobilization of essential training materials.

Training will begin in November 2025. It will combine theory, hands-on practice, and psychosocial support to ensure real personal and professional transformation.

4. Budget and Funding

The total project budget is estimated at USD 10,000.
To date, thanks to our collaboration with GlobalGiving, we have already received USD 50.
This initial contribution, though modest, marks the beginning of a chain of solidarity bringing us closer to our goal.

We are confident that with the continued support of GlobalGiving and our partners, we will reach the full funding target.

5. Expected Impact

This project will not only change the lives of 50 girls.

Empowering 50 Girls in DRC 2025

Contexte et justification

La République démocratique du Congo (RDC) continue de faire face à une crise humanitaire persistante, notamment dans les provinces du Nord-Kivu et du Sud-Kivu. Des milliers de filles survivantes de la guerre et de la violence sont exposées à l'exploitation, à la pauvreté et aux abus. Privées d'éducation et d'opportunités, nombre d'entre elles sont contraintes à la prostitution pour survivre. Seule une intervention ciblée peut briser ce cercle vicieux.

Objectif du projet :

Le centre de formation AGAPE vise à autonomiser 50 jeunes filles en leur offrant une formation professionnelle en mécanique, soudure et assemblage. Ces compétences très recherchées leur permettront d'atteindre l'indépendance financière, de retrouver leur dignité et d'envisager un avenir meilleur.

Progression du projet

Estimation du budget initial : 10 000 $
Fonds déjà collectés : 50 113 $, grâce à notre précieux partenariat avec GlobalGiving
Phase actuelle : Identification des formateurs qualifiés et sélection des bénéficiaires
Date de début prévue : novembre 2025

Impact attendu :

Cette formation permettra aux bénéficiaires non seulement de subvenir à leurs besoins et à ceux de leur famille, mais aussi de promouvoir l'éducation de leurs frères et sœurs et de servir de modèles au sein de leurs communautés. À long terme, le projet contribuera à briser le cycle de la pauvreté et de la violence et à bâtir une communauté plus forte et plus résiliente.
