Protect 300 girls from Child domestic work in Peru

Dear Supporters,

A couple of weeks ago we had our last Sunday session with girls in child domestic work, before the Christmas break. The past few months have been great and we organized many educational and fun activities at La Casa de Panchita.

Girls in child domestic work do not spend much time socializing with their peers or with their families. We believe it is very important for them to be able to share their problems and that they learn to support each other. We decided to include a special activity in our Sunday sessions. With the help of AGTR’s team and volunteers, girls are encouraged to open up and give each other advice. This is also a good way to learn if some of them are facing concerning issues and need counseling from our psychologist.

Sunday sessions at La Casa de Panchita will resume after the summer break, thanks to your generous contributions! Hoping that this Christmas season you will decide to support us once more, we would like to let you know that AGTR is participating in GlobalGiving’s Year-end Campaign and has, the chance to win bonus prizes thanks to your donations. Dear Supporters,

Girls in child domestic work (CDW) attending our Sunday workshops receive vocational training as part of their empowerment process. We ask them to think about what they want to be when they grow up, based on their interests and aspirations for the future. Today we would like to share with you María’s* dreams, a 11-year-old girl exposed to CDW:

“I want to be a Psychologist. I am a good listener and I like to help people, especially other children and adolescents. I want to help others improve their attitude and feel better with themselves”.

María lives in one of the most impoverished areas of Lima, Peru, where the quality of public education is extremely low. She needs school support so as one day she can have the chance to access secondary education, find a qualified job and escape exploitation. María needs to gain the self-esteem she needs to believe she can build a better future.

The end of the year is a very important time for AGTR and La Casa de Panchita. The December campaign is crucial if we are to raise sufficient funds to allow our projects to continue. We need your help to ensure we can hold our ground for the women and girls we serve, so as to be able to break new ground in the future. We need your support more than ever to keep up the great work we have done together. We humbly ask that you make a life-affirming donation.

We are going to participate in GlobalGiving’s Year-end Campaign and this year it comes with more opportunities than ever:

• $500,000 USD in matching funds on #GivingTuesday, November 29, applied at 50% to all donations of up to $1,000 USD;
• New recurring donations up to $100 USD per month will have their initial donation matched at 200% on #GivingTuesday;
