Background
Action10 together with Human Rights & Science (HR&S) aim to raise funds to decrease poverty in the Kibera slum through increased employment and business activities. The Kibera slum in Kenya suffers from low employment and high poverty rate where the latter is as high as 50%. By supporting local business operations we will contribute to an increased standard of living in the area.
Project update
To be able to support our partners we develop programmes and training in, for example, accounting and management. HR&S is fine-tuning the best programme for the RISEtalks that we offer to Dolas Creation together with our other partners in Kenya. RISE stands for Research Innovation and Social Enterprising.
The RISEtalks contains training in accounting which is lead by Ann, who is accountant by profession. The RISEtalks also contains team building and knowledge sharing among our social entrepreneur partners in Kenya. We provide a platform for them to meet and discuss their challenges and success and to help each other to scale. We also aim to provide training within business management.
Two members from Action10 with education in International Relations are planning to go to Kenya and interact with Dolas Creation and possible help empower, always within our own management strategy ROPE. ROPE stands for Real-time Outcome Planning and Evaluation, that ensures local ownership and more.
Hopefully these initiatives will help empower the local entrepreneurs and the businesses to continue to develop in a positive trajectory!
