Background
Action10 together with Human Rights & Science (HR&S) aim to raise funds to decrease poverty in the Kibera slum through increased employment and business activities. The Kibera slum in Kenya suffers from low employment and high poverty rate where the latter is as high as 50%. By supporting local business operations we will contribute to an increased standard of living in the area.
Project update
Dolar Creation has faced several challenges including both external factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic and business-related factors such as dealing with competition from imported clothing alternatives. However, Mr Fredrick, the founder, is working hard to deal with the challenges and is very positive about the future. Dolas Creation manages to do business with a few former clients despite the drop in demand during the pandemic and customers are continuously visiting his small tailoring shop in Nairobi, placing orders for various designs. Mr Fredrick anticipates to scale-up his business further when the economy is now stabilising fully after the pandemic and with support through financing and education in business management from Action10, Human Rights & Science and its partners, he should be able to take his business to the next level.
Thank you!
We are very thankful the contributions. It is the donors together with our partners and entrepreneurs that enable these businesses to thrive and provide opportunities, which in turns has a positive impact on the socieities they operate in.
