Project Report | Mar 21, 2017
Final report

By Noel Benno | AIF Clinton Fellow 2016-17

The previous months at our 'children's education centres' has been full of activities and interesting developments.

At present, the number of kids atending the Balghars (children's education centers) across 4 locations are as follows

Prithvi Balghar  -33

Khoko kabadi Balghar - 73

Vidya ghana Balghar - 44

Bal-mitra Balghar - 12

These balghars have collectively helped kids attain supplementary education in a very child-friendly way which is innovated by Shaishav. In essence, your support has been of great help in reaching a total of 162 kids with quality education, giving them a helping hand out of poverty.

On 26th of January, Bal Ramolsav was celebrated with 410 (60% of which was girls) from the community participating in traditional games, and competitions. This was done towards reducing the tensions between people belonging to different castes.

Further, we continued our Balghars during this period with variety of activities in addition to our regular educational programmes for the children in Junapani, Ravalikheda, Devaliya, Kotada and Himala villages.

Apart from this, in Kotada village, the school building was in a very poor condition and had become risky for the children to come for education. Some of the village leaders presented this issue to Adhar organisation. The team of Adhar coordinated and followed up with the district and village authorities and finally, we could get the approval of restoration of the school building. Nevertheless, the team of Adhar, further coordinated with respective department to undertake the task on priority and complete the restoration at the earliest.

Moreover, Shaishav consistently provides support to Adhar team for their capacity building and for liaisoning with government officials as and when need. Thus we are putting our hard efforts to make this a replicable model of collaboration for child development as Shaishav and Adhar together endeavour to transform the lives of children from marginalised communities in tribal areas.

Due to changes in fundraising strategy, we are closing fundraising for this particular project, and are rolling over the recurring donations to the flagship program of Shaishav. Every other project of Shaishav will remain to functional in Globalgiving, and we are looking forward to your continued support
