News: Psycho-Socio Support and Livelihoods Project
By Theophilus Ekpon | Project Coordinator
Recipients at a Psycho-Socio Support Session
We wish to inform you that forty new girls and women have joined the psycho-socio support and livelihoods project. They started the workshops and sessions in the third week of September, 2019 and will continue until the end of 2020 with periodic breaks. This new set of project recipients have so far completed sessions including introduction to peace; act of forgiveness; story telling; and group and cultural dance. We are working on their various livelihood choices and will soon be commencing the next round of tailoring training, and also cattle rearing. Some recipients have indicated that they are interested in learning computers and information and communication technologies (ICTs). We will be looking into this set of livelihood skills in the coming year.
We will soon begin our end of year fundraising starting at the end of November, and we look forward to your support in mobilizing friends and family members to support this project. Thank you all for your support always!

Project Adviser meeting with Psychologists
With your generous donations, this project has been able to reach out to 100 girls and women with trauma healing, mediation and mentoring. Eighteen (18) of these girls and women have also completed the livelihoods aspect of this project and have established their own tailoring businesses to cater for themselves and their families. Going forward, our team of psychologists met with our Project Adviser in the field earlier this week to conclude plans to support another 40 girls and women with psycho-social support skills beginning this August. The healing process takes time and we are looking at a period of around 1 year for this batch to complete the training. The psychologists have also advised that a few of the previous recipients should be brought back to join this group to get more time to heal. We will soon be announcing the numbers that we are supporting with livelihood skills (i.e. tailoring, cattle rearing) in this batch.
GlobalGiving is matching every $50 donation to this project at 60 percent starting on the 12th of August 2019 at 9 am (New York Time) until the 16th of August 2019. Please donate and also share widely. Monthly donations of $25 started during this period will also be matched.

By Theophilus Ekpon | Project Coordinator
As reported earlier 18 recipients of this project have completed the trainings and have been empowered to set up their own businesses. However, the graduation ceremony was unable to hold as earlier scheduled due to logistics challenges. A new date will be announced soon. A new set of project recipients have been identified and they will begin attending training sessions after the graduation and welcome ceremony.
Again, GlobalGiving will be offering matching funds and bonuses for all donations of $100 and above to this project on the 18th of July 2019 between 9am and 10am Washington DC time. Donations will receive matching funds of up to 50 percent per donor. Please keep this date and time in your calenders as we will share further information and reminder closer to July 18th.
