Empowering 43 female artisans in DR

On behalf of the beneficiaries, we want to thank you for helping us make a positive difference. Your support encourages our continued commitment to reaching our goal of improving the life conditions of a team of women who live in some deprived communities of the Punta Cana region.   

Thanks to your generosity and social awareness this project is able to empower women in vulnerable situations, through stimulation of their self-esteem and potential for achievement. 

The project continues to promote the empowerment of these women; to strengthen their capabilities, confidence, vision and leadership as a social group in order to continue promoting positive changes in their lives. 

Empowerment has fundamentally a collective and an individual dimension. The individual dimension involves a process by which the excluded raise their levels of confidence, self-esteem and ability to respond to their own needs. The project continues to focus on the latter. 

One of the pillars of the project is the improvement of capacities, providing the artisans with the necessary skills to continue successfully inserting themselves in the micro-business world and at the same time promoting their personal growth and the achievement of their goals. 

As a Foundation, we continue supporting the artisans by making it possible to sell their handicrafts at the stores of the Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Puntacana Resort and Club and some stores at the Punta Cana International Airport, as part of the marketing strategies. 

In the last month the project has been focused on providing the logistical support for their participation in events, branding, promotional materials, design and production of new handcrafted pieces.  In the last months they participated twice in the Farmer’s Market at Grupo Puntacana Foundation by setting up an exhibition stand

Dear donor, please receive a warm greeting. Thank you for your donation ! It really makes a difference for the female artisans that our project supports . They have become microentrepreneurs that in turn contribute to the sustainable development of their communities.

We remain focused on the objectives of contributing to the creation of microenterprises to support the insertion of women in vulnerable situations into the labor market, promoting their autonomy and decent and inclusive employment; and at the same time contribute to the protection of the environment through the use of recycled materials

This initiative undoubtedly contributes to the reduction of poverty levels, since it promotes the socioeconomic development of the artisans and their families through the creation of capacities and the promotion of entrepreneurship.

This social initiative shows as one of its main achievements the design and elaboration of high-quality differentiated products that meet environmental protection criteria, through the revaluation of traditional ways of handling raw materials and presentation of sustainable management options (recycling of plastic bags).

As a foundation, we continue supporting artisans by making it possible to sell their handicrafts at the stores of the Fundación Grupo Puntacana, Puntacana Resort and Club and some stores at the Punta Cana International Airport, as part of the marketing strategies.

In the last months the project has provided the advisory and logistical support for their participation in various events in order to gain more exposure, improve skills and increase sales . They participated by setting up an exhibition stand in:

• Corales Puntacana Championship PGA Tour 2024, a world class golf tournament that took place at Puntacana Resort

• FIACI Art Santo Domingo, a contemporary art fair that exhibit more than 200 pieces of art, from more than 70 national and foreign avant-garde artists, exploring themes such as identity, the environment and technology through different disciplines such as painting, sculpture, installations, video and digital art.

As part of that fair, they benefited from a workshop taught by expert craft instructors as well.

The artisans have enriched their offer of handicrafts with new designs. They have started the year experiencing a good level of sales, which has been the result of the aforementioned actions and the constant growth of the tourism industry.

As usual, the incomes are distributed among them and a part is allocated for administrative expenses of the association of artisans.
