The competition aims to instill creativity in public school children by encouraging and rewarding innovative thinking in a nationwide, English-language essay competition unlike traditional contests.
Approaches to Bulgarian education remain very traditional.Creativity often goes unrewarded, if not unnoticed,as emphasis is placed on technical knowledge and subjects.Since students are given so few opportunities to express themselves, they are inclined to uniformity and cheating. This competition aims to stimulate imaginative thinking and writing by exposing teachers and students to new material and ideas, and to reward pupils for their work on a level comparable to that of traditional contests
The English Creative Writing Competition enables students to express themselves in a purely creative format, while providing teachers the opportunity to employ new lesson plans and practice their English as judges. National awards reinforce the value of such efforts.
This competition will stimulate students' ability to think innovatively in both academic and professional settings.
