The Bulgarian Creative Writing Competition in English is officially underway, thanks to support from our donors on GlobalGiving! This year, over 125 schools have registered to participate, and nearly 4000 essays from public school students all over Bulgaria were created during the “creative writing week” – February 13-20. As a local teacher noted, "...It was the big day today. Students were really excited, they liked the topics and expressed their imagination..." Here are some of the topics: “Describe how a meteor feels as it flies through outer space,” “Explain what it must be like to be three meters tall,” and ”Describe the happiest man (or woman) on Earth.”
5 regional judging panels will review all submitted essays and will select the national finalists. The National jury will award first, second and third places to the best essays from each grade level. With the money raised through Global Giving we are able to provide certificates for all students, and a national awards ceremony in Sofia for the winners. We are excited to be able to carry out our project on such a large scale, and to reward students for their creativity. Thank you, donors, and stay tuned for announcements about the winning essays and awards!
