DASL Computer Classes Update

By Amy M Baty-Herbert | Project Coordinator

Dear Project Supporters,

Many youths and young adults in Sierra Leone have very limited access to computers or computer training due to financial limitations. Your continued support is greatly appreciated as more students can get computer training at the Develop Africa Sierra Leone Computer Lab (DASL). This will give them the tools they need to be successful in today's technology-driven society.

You can see the full album of the computer lab training students doing their practical work.

The current computer classes at DASL Computer Lab run in three shifts.  Shifts run on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, or on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Classes are held from 9:30-11:30am, 12:00pm-2pm, and from 3:00pm to 5:15pm every day. Computer classes include- Introduction to Computer, Parts of a Computer, Input and Outputs Devices, Basic mouse and Keyboard Techniques, Typing Master, and Microsoft application programs that are from (MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Internet). Classes are set up so that no two students have to share a computer so everyone has access to their own computer.

DASL Computer training is an effective long-term investment that helps to eradicate poverty by enhancing education, broadening options and opening the door to new opportunities. The use of computers and technology is the key to success in the information age, it enables bright young minds to become better qualified for jobs that were previously unavailable to them. We encourage you to start a monthly recurring donation here to help more students bridge the digital divide. Even a few dollars a month will go a long way. Please also share this with your contacts and invite them to consider supporting this ongoing project.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at GlobalGiving@developafrica.org.

With great appreciation,

Amy & The Develop Africa Team
