Computers in education are great as they enable students to connect to a whole world of resources. The linked articles below affirm that there is an ongoing need for investment in computers in education and in the education of girls.
As one of the articles states: “If there is one single issue worth your focused attention, it is the continuous fight to reduce illiteracy and school drop-out rates in Africa today. ICT, seemingly, holds the key to improved access to education in Africa”.
This is one of the areas that Develop Africa is passionate about. Our goal by the end of this year is to ship the computers towards placing a computer lab in the FAWE school. We are actively fund raising on GlobalGiving and on other resources / sites to make this a reality. We hope to set up a lab similar to the lab pictured in another school in Freetown. So far we have already raised some funds and are making steady progress.
Through this project we are together helping to invest more resources into education, with special focus on Information Communication Technology (ICT). This will help bridge the digital divide between the African continent and the developed world.
We invite your on-going support that will make a real difference. Please make a donation today and help open up a whole new world of learning opportunities for these girls.
We welcome your feedback and suggestions on how we could together impact many more lives. Thanks for your support.
Cordially and best wishes
