Benue State is at the epicentre of a humanitarian catastrophe that is still escalating. The World Bank has highlighted how insecurity and violence have forced thousands of families into displacement, putting immense pressure on already scarce resources. For these families, daily life is a constant battle: most have lost not only their homes but also their livelihoods, community support systems, and access to healthcare and education.
In the face of hunger, parents are sometimes forced to pull their children out of school to help find food or income. Others go days without adequate nutrition, risking long-term health complications and even death. The trauma inflicted by displacement is deep, especially for children who face not just physical deprivation, but also fear and uncertainty about the future.
Our project is committed to restoring dignity and hope through immediate, targeted relief. Hope Against Hunger: Why Immediate Support Matters in Benue
In Benue State, the consequences of conflict and successive climate shocks are starkly visible. With their homes destroyed and farmlands abandoned, thousands of families have fled for safety and now find shelter in makeshift camps. However, these camps are not sanctuaries—they are places of daily struggle and anxiety. According to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), nearly 35 million Nigerians could face acute food insecurity during the 2026 lean season, with Benue’s displaced families among the most at risk.
Many children in these camps are no longer able to attend school. Instead, they spend their days battling hunger and searching for scraps of food. Mothers and fathers are forced into heartbreaking decisions: who eats today, and who must wait until tomorrow? The stress and trauma are taking a devastating toll on both physical and mental health.
Our emergency project aims to reverse this trend by providing nutritious meals, safe drinking water, and essential supplies to the most vulnerable families. Every meal we deliver is a step toward restoring hope and health. Donor support is not just helpful—it is lifesaving. Responding to Nigeria's Hidden Emergency

The humanitarian crisis in Benue State, Nigeria, is becoming increasingly desperate, yet it remains largely underreported. Once the backbone of Nigeria’s agricultural productivity, ongoing conflict and insecurity have torn many families in Benue from their homes and farmlands. According to UNICEF, over 3 million Nigerians are now internally displaced, and Benue is one of the worst-affected regions.
Families who once lived self-sufficiently now rely on overstretched humanitarian assistance in overcrowded camps. The impact on children is particularly severe. UNICEF’s report warns that over 1 million Nigerian children are at risk of severe acute malnutrition this year alone. In these camps, basic necessities such as food, clean water, and healthcare are scarce. Every day, parents struggle to find enough to eat, often sacrificing their meals so their children can have a chance of survival.
Our project is responding to this emergency by delivering immediate food aid and essential relief supplies to displaced families in Makurdi and surrounding areas. Every food package we distribute is more than a meal—it sends a message that these families have not been forgotten and that hope remains.
