In Brazil the therapeutic community for people in alcohol addiction recovery has struggled forward after the serious floods.
The project included vocational skills activities and most of the materials were destroyed or unusable after the flooding. For people in recovery meaningful occupation is a key element of building life and changing behaviour patterns. If person has too much empty time in their hands it is likely that they develop unhealthy thoughts and behaviours. Therapeutic communities take care of their daily needs by sharing tasks within the group of residents. In addition there are therapy groups, 1:1 sessions and personal reflection times. Beyond the therapy the there are small jobs and projects that equip people towards independent life by giving participants variety of vocational skills.
Floods destroyed the tools and the workshop materials and this is why the team has worked hard to find alternative tasks for the people to do. There is lack of equipment and materials and we hope that you can help us to bring hope to the situation by your donations.
There are so many diasters around the world but each one of them has real people with real vulnerabilities being effected. We thank you for your interest to our project and hope to give you more positive updates in the coming months.
