School Supplies

By Pendaeli Amos Musani | Project Manager

Dear our great donors,

We thank you so much for the donation you sent to Elyon & Friends Tanzania through GlobalGiving to support Education to our region.

Through your generously support we were able to buy and delivered school supplies for Mareu primary school pupils which included small and big exercise books, pens, pencils, note books and writing pads on April 07, 2022.

According to academic teacher, most of the children they don’t have full stationeries and others they don’t have them on time because of their parents / guardians economy limitations which cause many of the pupils fall on poor academic performance. Many parents/guardians are petty farmers and due to climate change and covid 19 impacts it has resulted into food shortage and poor family economy hence many family keep struggling to feed the families.

This school was constructed by Mareu villagers few years ago and construction is still on progress although all classrooms are already roofed. The village has no any primary school around and nearest one available at the nearby village is 3kms one way which is long walking distance for children aged 3 - 5yrs old, so parents decided to send their children to this uncompleted school in order to reduce the long distance of their children walking 6 kms every day and risks for the young girls walking alone from school in evening hours. Another reason for sending pupils to this uncomplicated school is because during raining season pupils stay at home and when it rains while on the way to school or home they do arrive very wet including their exercise books. Some classes don’t have floor yet which makes pupils suffer from cough and dusts in the sitting desks.

The need is great. And even the smallest amount can help the pupils at Mareu Primary School. If you will like to help the current need of putting floor on the class room and plastering the wall you can send a note via GlobalGiving note room. We thank you so much for your generosity
