Another Incredible Day at ABCS AND RICE!

We had an incredible RICE DAY at ABCS AND RICE this past October 2017!

ABCS AND RICE is a school in rural Cambodia which, thanks to the kindness of people like you, feeds and educates more than 220 students. “Rice Day” is normally the day that our students take home 6 kg of rice to feed their families.

Because of the generosity of many donors and the work of 6 visiting volunteers from Australia, ABCS AND RICE recently provided nearly 200 families in rural Siem Reap with enough rice to feed them for one month!

They piled the 194 sacks of rice onto the ABCS AND RICE school bus and headed to Angkor Wat.  Because the village roads were too narrow for the school bus to continue, these volunteers enlisted the help of local villagers.  The villagers helped load the sacks which each contained 50 kg of rice,  onto their motorbikes and bicycles and carried the bags through mud and then hoisted them onto the front porch of each little home.

Jason, a regular volunteer for ABCS AND RICE, reported that “after dropping off rice at several homes...a man came down the steps of his home carrying what at first looked like two pieces of wood….and placed them down on the ground.  He signaled with his hands..’please take a seat’...He pressed his hands together as if praying...Each of the villagers around us followed suit...we returned the gesture”.  The villagers were so appreciative!

Jason pointed out that “back home, the cost of two beers at Wrigley Field is enough to purchase a 50 kg bag of rice.  This will feed an entire family or 3 students at ABCS and Rice, for one month!"

You and other kind donors from around the world are permanently improving the lives of hundreds of needy people in Cambodia by providing education and food!

Thanks so much for your kind support!  You are truly making a difference!
