An Appeal That May Change a Life!

The journey with children never ends – it rather gets more rewarding with each step we set for them! To help a child grow strong, confident, independent and happy through providing support for his/her education can be the best one could do for her/him! This year we are revamping our campaign for ‘Sponsor a Child’ program to support our existing pool of 1200 students and many more children who will be enrolled this August. The appeal that we offer to you is to lend a helping hand and take responsibility of a child’s education. Your contribution is a key to realize a dream!

As always JAAGO Foundation is doing its best to provide quality education to its children. Trying to improve its teaching experience and interactive and learner-centered classroom environs are two of the moves that we are making to ensure this objective. Here is a glimpse of the things we achieved within last three months. Caring for the physical and mental growth of our children and engaging the parents are also a priority for us as a crucial factor in determining effective learning for them.

Quest for Quality Education

As part of our constant effort to improve the teaching and learning experience in JAAGO Foundation schools, we are now focusing on content development and teachers’ training program for use of those educational materials that would make learning more effective and fun for the children. As part of this program, we have partnered with English for Action (EIA) which is nine year long programme funded by DFID through UKAid to develop communicative English language competency among Bangladeshis. They are providing interactive teaching materials (figurines, posters, flash card etc.) and training for JAAGO teachers. Use of education contents and improved teachers’ efficiency is surely going to benefit the students through a more interactive and fun classes.

We Do Care How They Grow Up!

Safe Drinking Water ensured in JAAGO: Ensuring sound health of its students is one of the promises the promises that JAAGO has made. As part of that promise this year, on observing ‘World Water Day’ campaign, it has installed one RO water purifiers in all of its six branches. The water filters were a bequest from Coca Cola Company Bangladesh who partnered with JAAGO Foundation in celebrating the day on March 22, 2013. Installing the purifiers implies pure drinking water and therefore sound health for all 1200 students of JAAGO schools.

JAAGO Parents’ Club: Raising children inseparably requires engagement of parents who would work as the greatest mentors and guide for their teachers. This is why JAAGO always take up projects that would ensure that the parents are involved in every bit the decisions made for their children and Parents’ Club is one such project. Besides giving them counseling about child rearing, the incentive would also provide members legal help, physiological therapy, business training and medical benefits for the present club.

The Celebrity Bonanza!

Celebration for Bangla New Year 1420: As always, Boishakh came with twice the festivity for JAAGO Foundation this year! Welcoming the year 1420 and JAAGO’s 6th year was done with much fanfare at the JAAGO branches countrywide. JAAGO Foundation-Rayer Bazar celebrated "Pohela Boishakh 1420" with an elaborate cultural program featuring traditional boishakh dances, songs and dramas. The students of this branch also staged a drama specially designed to take back the audiences to their rural roots! The students at JAAGO Banani branch had plenty of assortments in their New Year celebrations. Colorfully painted faces, colorful art pieces, melodious songs and good food were staples of the Banani celebrations. The bighearted teaching staff at JAAGO Banani pooled in funds to distribute toys amongst the children. JAAGO Foundation Chittagong Branch welcomed this New Year with students dancing to the beat of Boishakh numbers, singing festive songs and upholding Boishakh festivities through their paintings! The students at JAAGO Gazipur celebrated Boishakh with a music fest. The tiny fashionistas from this branch also put together a ramp walk session featuring various traditional attires! Treating themselves to colorful face paintings and chilled watermelons, the students had quite a ball on the first day of 1420!

The Most Sought After Break with NTV: When you were a kid, break between classes might have been the moment that you yearned for after the tedious lectures and tons of class work! And when you know you and your most longing possession – your flair for dancing are going to broadcast in TV, think of the blast! Our Jaago kids were recently showcased in a recent episode of Pran Junior Tiffiner Fakey, a TV program that features school students. JAAGO students of Class II and III put forward an elaborate Music Orchestra piece, dance numbers and a mini debating session. A ‘Draw as you like’ art competition brought out the hidden Vinci in every student. In an interview with the Education Supervisor of JAAGO Foundation the host of this show discussed the academic competency of JAAGO students. Since ‘Tiffener Fakey’ thrives to promote children awareness amongst students, the crew was very pleased with how much the JAAGO children knew about their heritage.
