New Batch, New Hope!

First day at School is a heart touching event that cannot be forgotten which always remains fresh in the mind for the children. We at JAAGO Foundation School have welcomed the 2017 batch of its reception class with warmth, pride, and excitement with the new children and their parents. It was an amazing experience with a mix of excitement and fear for our new batch of student creating a lifelong memory for both the children and their parents. With the new children; the total number of students has become 2500 in our 13 schools.

After the warmth welcome the students and the parents had an introductory speak up session with the new children's parents. Creating awareness among the parents about their child's school life was the main priority. They were also given a brief description of the basic rules and regulations of the school. This was another day of joy for us, which could not be achieved without the belief and trust of our supporters and teachers.

Dolls for the Children of the World

Our kids of class 7, JAAGO Foundation, Rayer Bazar School branch participated in the innovative program with MSTERIO.org. This gave them the chance to make new friends in a unique way. They wanted to show their love for the children all around the world and connect to those in similar conditions. Main goal of this program is to connect children all around the world through messages on handcrafted gifts and dolls.

Each of the students was given the dolls and various colorful pens to paint the dolls & write their messages on them. The kids filled the dolls with their sweet and heartfelt messages for the children around the world as well as the children suffering in the war devastated countries. Through these messages they wanted to show that they are not alone, we are beside them in spirit. This project was really inspiring and very motivating for our children. We are grateful to the MISTERIO for taking such a beautiful initiative and letting our kids be a part of it. They got the valuable experience of the feeling that giving is as great as receiving.

“LG IT Academy” at JAAGO Rayer Bazar School & “Hole in the wall” at JAAGO Banani School

Technology opens the door towards infinite knowledge. On the month of December, LG Electronics Bangladesh and JAAGO Foundation have jointly established “LG IT Academy” at Rayer Bazar School, aiming to facilitate the underprivileged children to have ICT education. Rayer Bazar is the 2nd biggest slum in Dhaka, where our first branch of school is located. The academy will provide standard IT education to our children that will give them the opportunity to enrich themselves and be world class citizens. This IT Academy will immensely help our students and definitely bring outstanding change in their lives enhancing their knowledge with the help of information and technology. Through the opportunity to learn coding, graphics etc. the students will be able to develop their skills which will help them to build up their career in the future.

Not only we have provided IT education to our students with the help of KrisEnergy we have also created ‘Hole in the Wall’ to provide the facilities of internet access along with educational games and informative animations to the whole community of the largest slum in Dhaka, Korail. This offers free access to the internet for the local underprivileged kids of the slum which will help the entire community to enrich their skill with technology.

Science Project Exhibition

Science education fuels a child’s curious mind and provides them with valuable skills and ideas. To give our children a platform for practical application of science, recently our students from Class 9 held a science project exhibition. Our class 9 students, of Rayer Bazar branch School in Dhaka, in four (4) groups was mainly developed their science projects taking ideas from one of their subject titled “Bangladesh and Global Studies”.

The projects they presented were very well crafted which showed how much the kids have worked hard and put their effort into making them. The four (4) groups displayed their presentation on different environmental topics like river, earthquake, natural resources and deforestation demonstrating the guests with a very detailed description of the causes and effects of these topics.

Participating in this science fair was a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience practical scientific knowledge outside the book. Altogether, the fair was an amazing event for the students to explore their own questions and make their own discoveries.

JAAGO kids appeared for the PSC Board Examination 2016

On 20th November, 33 of our JAAGO Foundation, Rayer Bazar School branch kids appeared for their Primary School Certificate (PSC) Board Examination 2016 and performed outstandingly for the 3rd time in a row. For us, this was a moment of pride, which has been only possible by the belief and trust of our teachers, supporters, and the hard work and sheer will of our students.

They have managed to gain a 100% pass rate in this examination. This was a moment of achievement for us to see our kids step further towards a beautiful future by breaking the cycle of poverty through education.

Thank you

As Helen Keller said, ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much’. All our supporters and sponsors have their share in our journey and success. So we thank you all for being with us in our mission to make this world a better place.
