Over 30 local teachers to be employed in 2014

Our local teachers in Guatemala

As we swiftly move into February all our projects are now back up and running after the holidays and we can eagerly look ahead to providing yet more education, employment and daily food and fruit to almost 1000 children across Latin America.

We currently employ over 30 local teachers in Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú and we plan to increase this number and supplement the food program, as well as providing better and more educational materials that will improve further the level of education we can provide.

It is thanks and testimony of your support during these past years, and years to come, that we can continue the projects, getting better each year and providing an education for these communities that had little chance or opportunity.

Our teachers in Santa Maria, Guatemala!

Our three teachers in Santa Maria

Hello there!

Since our school in Santa Maria, Guatemala reopened its doors in January our wonderful donors like yourself have been supporting 140 children to recieve school materials, daily food and fruit and celebration days, but most of all you have gifted them teachers.

In Santa Maria, thanks to you, we currently have three teachers working with the children Doreen, Santiago and Elvia. Both in the morning and afternoon our three teachers run classes to reinforce what the children are learning in their national school and helping them with their impossible homework!

Elvia has been working in the school for two years and supports the youngest of the children to learn their basic ABCs. Santiago has been the passion behind Santa Maria with Doreen since we opened our doors in 2004, running the projects and now focusing his energy on helping the older children with their homework. Doreen teaches the middle classes of varying levels, breaking them down into ability groups for their classes.

What our three wonderful teachers have in common is a passion for their work. Whether they are reciting the alphabet over and over again, cleaning a child's nose, comforting a child that has just grazed their knee and explaining how the universe works, you know they do it with all their passion and love, to help theie community and country. As Doreen says, "

They are lovely kids and it is amazing to see them everyday, trying to learn new things!".

Santa Maria celebrated a wonderful nine years of educating children a little while ago and that has been down to your long-term support as well, together we are constructing a future. Thank you.
