Pregnancy Risks Go Undetected Without Checkups

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your support of the Give Free Antenatal Care to Poor Pregnant Women project. Every donation received is a reminder that there are people who care about the health and safety of mothers and babies in underserved communities.

Pregnancy should be a time when women receive regular medical attention, yet many expectant mothers continue to go through pregnancy without a single antenatal visit. For families already struggling to meet daily needs, the cost of clinic visits, transportation, and medical tests can be overwhelming. As a result, many women stay home and hope for the best until labour begins.

Although we have received donations toward this project, the amount available is still not enough to begin implementation. Additional support is needed before we can deploy healthcare teams and provide the services planned for beneficiaries.

The project was designed to remove some of the barriers that prevent pregnant women from receiving care. Through community-based antenatal services, women will have access to health checks, malaria prevention, nutritional support, health education, and guidance on preparing for safe delivery. These services can help identify complications early and reduce the risks faced by both mother and child.

Too many women continue to miss out on antenatal care simply because it is beyond their financial reach or located too far from where they live. Without regular monitoring, preventable complications can go unnoticed until they become life-threatening.

We are grateful for the generosity shown so far and remain committed to bringing this project to life. As support grows, we will be able to move closer to reaching the women who need these services most.

Thank you for standing with mothers whose access to healthcare remains limited. We look forward to sharing future updates as progress is made.

Warm regards,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
