This project will allow us to provide families of vulnerable neighborhoods in northern Buenos Aires with proper sanitation facilities. Low- income families often suffer from housing defects such as humidity or limited access to drinking water, gas and a working sewage system. Our program "Familias en Obra" promotes the right to live in an adequate and healthy home through financial assistance and professional advice: affordable credits with less formal requirements and free technical guidance.
The current difficult economic situation of Argentina caused a significant price increase in the area of construction due to the high rate of inflation. This results in a gap between our maintained microloan levels and the higher costs of sanitary installations. We strive to continue providing the families with access to basic services, promoting the universal human right of adequate housing.
Mujeres2000 provides both financial and non- financial support: Microloans as an economic aid and professional advice from advanced architecture and engineering students. Constant visits of the respective families by the volunteering students facilitate a relationship of trust between the two parts and allow adjustments to special personal needs. The indicated donation goal represents the required financial resource to guarantee proper sanitation for all of our construction projects.
In 2019 we accompanied 52 families during the construction process of their own home, meeting adequate living conditions. We will guarantee a solid continuation of our activity, increasing the number of direct beneficiaries. Our efforts in providing minimum standards like for example proper sanitary facilities has a direct positive impact on the familys health and the personal development of its members: Study conditions for children highly depend on appropriate and safe living spaces.
