Lomshiyo Farm Update
The past months at Lomshiyo Farm have been defined by steady progress, hard work, and the visible rewards of careful planning. We are currently harvesting two hectares of peppers, a milestone that reflects both the productivity of the land and the commitment of the team working it. These peppers are being sold directly at the farm gate to local community members, as well as supplied to nearby informal markets, Spar stores, and regional supermarkets, creating a reliable income stream while strengthening local food supply chains.
At the same time, the team has been focused on preparing for the next planting season. With the rains well underway, keeping the blocks clean has been a daily priority. Regular weeding and land preparation are essential at this time of year to protect soil health and ensure strong yields in the months ahead. Fertiliser has been secured and is being readied for planting, allowing the farm to move efficiently into the next phase of production.
Behind the scenes, important groundwork has also continued. Farm roads have been repaired and maintained to ensure safe access for vehicles and deliveries, particularly during the wet season. Vehicles and essential equipment have undergone routine maintenance to keep operations running smoothly and to minimise costly breakdowns during peak activity.
Together, these efforts highlight Lomshiyo Farm’s role as more than a food-producing operation. It remains a source of employment, skills development, and economic stability for the surrounding community, demonstrating how sustainable agriculture can support both people and conservation in a very real, practical way. Thank you for supportuing this.
