Psychosocial support for patients and families

By Pablo Allard | Coordinator of Quality of Life and Development

Fundación Camino continues to actively implement its Psychosocial Support Program, providing consistent emotional and social support to both adolescent cancer patients and their caregivers throughout their treatment journey. On average, the program delivers monthly psychosocial care to 24 individuals, offering a combination of individual support sessions, group activities, and safe spaces for emotional expression. This ongoing work has been essential in helping families cope with the psychological and emotional challenges associated with cancer, reducing feelings of isolation, and strengthening resilience during a highly vulnerable period.

Despite its meaningful impact, the program has faced significant financial challenges. To date, it has received limited external funding, which has required Fundación Camino to assume most of the operational costs. This has represented a considerable financial burden for the organization, especially given the growing demand for psychosocial support among patients and caregivers.

Sustaining and expanding this program is critical to ensuring that families continue to receive the comprehensive care they need. Increased support through donations is essential to maintain the quality and continuity of these services, and to reach more families who are navigating the complex realities of cancer. Fundación Camino remains committed to this mission, but the continued generosity of donors will play a key role in making this support possible.
