Writing a new story for John

Family

Today I want to introduce you to a migrant family who, like many families, have left their country fleeing hunger, poverty, lack of access to health and resources to meet their basic needs. They are Marycarmen and her son John, who found in the city of Medellín in Colombia the hope of improving John's health and quality of life.

John is 16 years old, is passionate about football and video games, loves to share with his brothers of 11 and 14 years whom he misses from the first moment he crossed the border and with whom he dreams of reuniting once he receives the surgeries he requires to have a healthier and happier life.

When he was only one month old, he was hospitalized for pneumonia for which he required an intubation procedure that caused John a grade 3 subglottic stenosis thus causing an obstruction in the larynx. At the age of 12 this condition made John need a temporary tracheostomy that would allow the passage of air to the lungs, once recovered the airways, due to the conditions of the current health system in his native country Venezuela was not possible to perform the removal of the tracheostomy, in addition, a surgery to remove the cataracts in his eyes and for an inguinal hernia that made it difficult for him to displacement and caused severe pain.

Once they settled in the city, they met the Fundación Patronato to whom they turn for support for John. Initially, thanks to the generosity of a pediatric surgeon and urologist, it was possible to perform surgery for inguinal hernia. Currently, we join efforts to perform tracheostomy removal and improve your vision.

Today we turn to your generosity to join us and together to change John's life, restore happiness, improve his quality of life and thus return to his native country to reunite with his family whom he misses so much.

Do not forget that your contribution is of great help to us!!
