Your compassion and commitment have been instrumental in helping us design and sustain livelihood programs that empower women and girls, enabling them to create sustainable sources of income and build confidence through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
Since 2003, SERUDS has been initiating self-employment training programs that have positively transformed the lives of countless families. These programs do more than improve household incomes—they also create pathways for children’s education, as we encourage women to prioritize schooling and understand its value for the next generation.
Skills That Build Independence
Many women and girls trained through our programs have gone on to establish small tailoring and embroidery businesses. They now stitch school uniforms, design blouses, and add intricate zari work on sarees. These skills allow them to earn an additional income of approximately 5,500 per month, which greatly supports household needs, healthcare, and their children’s education.
Comprehensive Training Programs
Our six-month fashion design courses are designed especially for women from the most disadvantaged communities in Mandlem Village and Praja Nagar. Each batch trains 25 women and girls with hands-on sessions and provides all necessary materials, including threads, fabric, needles, and scissors.
Upon completion, participants receive:
A certificate of completion, boosting their confidence and credibility
An orientation program covering marketing skills, pricing, and customer outreach
Guidance on accessing small business loans through banks and financial institutions to help them launch their enterprises
