Help feed 250 Vulnerable people in South London

Over recent months, we have continued to see people relying on our Community Canteens for a hot, healthy meal, as well as friendship and a chance to get out of the house into a warm space.

Our efforts were highlighted in the Evening Standard, with our guests telling the reporter:

“I am an old woman and don’t want to sit at home all day on my own. The cost of electricity is terrible — I have to sit under a blanket at home, but when I come here I meet my friends and don’t need to put the heating on.”

"I like coming here - I get food, a chat and it helps with the Cost of Living."

During December, a lot of work has gone into organising our festive Canteen sessions, offering the community a chance to be together with others at this difficult time of year.

There was smiles on the faces of so many who joined us for the first two meals, and there's still more to go. Thank you to everyone who has supported us #EnrichingCommunities throughout the year. It's been a busy summer, with our three Community Canteens welcoming many guests, each and every week!

As the Cost of Living challenges have become the new normal, people have increasingly needed access to a good, hot meal, while also benefitting from the chance to spend time with their neighbours.

It’s been heartening to see more volunteers join us in our canteens as well, including teams from local companies. We've had lovely feedback from those who have spent their time turning surplus food into a delicious three course meal, including:

"I would do it again! It was perfect, and the feeling of giving back to community can never be matched".

"Excellent, very enjoyable, the time went very quickly!"

Everyone is welcome at our projects, and we know that as the winter months start to draw in, time at our canteens is going to be increasingly important. We'll carry on working hard #EnrichingCommunities and supporting Lambeth, Southwark and Wandsworth in the coming months. If you feel able to support our efforts, we appreciate all donations.
