Help more South African children achieve in Maths

The Online Maths activities provided by Green Shoots are available ANYTIME & ANYWHERE via any device that can connect to the internet - you do not need a smart phone.

Learners are realising they can continue do their MCO (Maths Curriculum Online) activities after hours too! It has been so encouraging hearing the feedback of how learners find a way to keep learning, from borrowing phones from family members or going to a local library. Parents/guardians are grateful that these curriculum mapped MCO exercises are available anytime at NO extra cost to the family. Thanks to your continuing donations - these quality MCO exercises are reaching homes and families in all communities - both rural and urban. 

Since the start of the year - we have seen over 59,000 MCO sessions (a learner accessing their MCO exercises) being logged either in the evenings or during a weekend/holiday. That is a LOT of Maths happening after hours!! It is amazing the determination of learners to do their Maths.

Throughout 2021 we have been running different Mental Maths LeaderBoard Challenges for all of our learners. Learners get 2 or 3 mins (depending on their age) to complete as many Mental Maths sums online as they can. There is a Leaderboard for each grade, that shows the learners with the most correct sums in the time allowed! The top 5 learners for each grade are awarded a certificate and are featured on our website. Learners from any community have a equal opportunity to enter and shine.

This LeaderBoard Challenge has been a huge hit, with learners from many schools entering and competing against each other. Schools have been proudly celebrating when their learners make it to a Top 5 place!! 

Keegan, a Grade 6 learner from Idas Vallei Primary says, " I am very happy to achieve a Top 5 position for the Grade 6 learners in the Western Cape. I hope that this competition will be held again next year to give me the opportunity to climb the Leaderboard. Thank you all ".

Thanks to your generous support we have been able to run 7 different competitions in 2021.

We have had 7,776 entries by learners, all keen to show how they are achieving in their (Mental) Maths!  Your support is enabling learners to excel in Maths and be celebrated for their accomplishments.
