RECONSTRUCTION OF 22 SCHOOLS COMPLETED

Thank you so much for supporting us to Rebuild Schools in Nepal after the devastating Earthquake in 2015. I am delighted to report that this project is now complete.

Immediately after the earthquake we were able to respond by supplying emergency aid in the form of bags of rice and temporary shelter for families. After that we helped with constructing temporary school classrooms from bamboo and tarpaulins.

We were then approved by the District Education Office and the Nepal Reconstruction Authority to support 22 schools in reconstruction work. This ranged from rebuilding damaged classrooms to mending fences, from installing water supplies to rebuilding toilet blocks. We have now completed all the works in these 22 schools and over the past two years we have kept you up to date as to when these buildings have been completed.

However there are still schools in the district of Makwanpur that need our help, and we have put in another application to the District Education Authority to be allocated further reconstruction  projects. However we feel it is now time to close this particular Appeal and merge it with our other Appeal - the Nepal Earthquake Appeal: Two years on.

This project will cover new reconstruction projects as well as our trafficking prevention work. We know that 80% of trafficking victims in Nepal have never been in school - which is why we continue to see our work in schools as vital.

Thank you so much to you for contributing so generously. Your donations to Rebuild Schools in Nepal have left a lasting legacy to some very remote schools in Nepal and will enable children both now and in the future to access and enjoy the very precious gift of education.
