Every 30 minutes, a woman in Mali dies from preventable childbirth complications. Your donation provides Clean Birth Kits with sterile tools like gloves, blades, and soap to women in rural areas. These kits reduce deadly infections and are delivered with the help of local health workers to ensure safe, clean births.
In Mali, too many women and newborns are dying during childbirth due to a lack of access to basic, sterile delivery supplies that could easily prevent infections and complications. In rural and low-resource areas, mothers often give birth at home sometimes without assistance. Many women in Mali also do not attend any prenatal care visits, making their pregnancy and childbirth complicated sometimes leading do deaths.
In many parts of Mali, women give birth without access to sterile tools, increasing the risk of deadly infections like sepsis, tetanus, and umbilical cord infections. These are among the leading causes of maternal and newborn deaths. By providing clean birth kits to pregnant women, especially those with low incomes, we address the root causes of preventable birth related deaths. When combined with education and guidance from trained local health workers, maternal and infant deaths are reduced.
As clean birth practices become more common, families become healthier and more productive, out of poverty and self-sufficient. By reducing preventable deaths, empowering local health workers, and encouraging safer birthing practices, this project lays the foundation for long-term change transforming maternal and newborn health for generations to come.
