We are thrilled to share the excellent progress made in 2024 on the Mountainlands Range Expansion Project, an ambitious endeavor to create a safe, thriving habitat for rhinos and other wildlife. With each milestone, we are one step closer to transforming this breathtaking landscape into a secure haven for biodiversity.

Ready to Welcome Rhinos and Wildlife

2024 saw the completion of holding bomas, designed to temporarily house rhinos and wildlife before they are released into the larger reserve. These bomas play a vital role in acclimating animals to their new environment while providing a safe space for monitoring and care.

To ensure the highest level of protection, a dedicated ranger camp was established near the bomas. Equipped with tents, showers, toilets, storage containers, and solar power, the camp provides essential facilities for the rangers who will safeguard the animals during this critical transition phase.

Enhancing Security and Operations

Strategic security measures have begun to take shape with the deployment of cameras at key vantage points. These systems enhance monitoring capabilities, enabling real-time surveillance and swift responses to potential threats.

Given the vastness of the property, the Mounted Unit has been partially relocated to Mountainlands to support operations. The horses’ ability to traverse rugged terrain quickly and efficiently makes them invaluable for patrolling this expansive range.

A Vision for the Future

The Mountainlands Range Expansion is more than just a physical project; it is a vision for a future where rhinos and wildlife roam freely in a secure, thriving ecosystem. This first rhinos have been successfully moved to the holding bomas ready for release. Thank you for being an essential part of this journey. Together, we are creating a legacy of hope and resilience.
