Help Sexworkers in Thailand find a new life!

Hello everyone!

Time is flying, and it is already time for another update from us. The past few months have been incredibly busy as we prepared for our next three-month Tamar Vocational and Life Training. We hosted several special outreaches to connect with women in the bars, and we are so thankful that three new women chose to join Tamar last month. Together with three women who joined us a bit earlier, we have a total of six women in our training program this year, which officially kicked off at the beginning of July!

The women have just finished their first full week of training, and they are doing fantastic so far. The next three months will be packed with vocational training, counseling, life skills, fellowship, and much more. Thanks to your generosity, we are able to provide this vital training and offer these women a fresh start.

Caring for Our Current Tamar Women You might wonder: what is happening with the women who are already at Tamar but aren't in this specific training? We are making sure they feel fully supported, too! Last week, they participated in a special Puppets Training. Additionally, our new Social Worker is meeting with each woman individually to assess their needs and help them take their next steps. It is a beautiful journey, and we are moving forward together.

Preparing for Mother’s Day Outreaches Our women are also busy preparing for our big Mother’s Day Outreach in August. In Thailand, Mother’s Day is celebrated on the Queen’s birthday, which falls in a different month than in many other countries. We are planning to distribute 1,000 gift bags to women still working in the bars, with the hope that it will inspire them to leave that life behind. Our women have already started crafting handmade gifts to pack into the bags.

Sawadee ka!

Songkran is in full swing here in Thailand! As we celebrate the Thai New Year, our city has transformed into the world’s largest water fight. We’ve been out in our pickup truck with a giant water barrel, joined by hundreds of others in the streets. It’s the perfect way to cool down in this heat, and the children are having the time of their lives!

The Power of Presence While we celebrate, we are also reflecting on the deep impact of the Tamar family. Recently, one of our mothers—who gave birth this past November—shared her testimony through tears. During her previous two pregnancies, she was entirely alone. She went to the hospital alone, had no visitors, and returned home to care for her newborns with no help at all.

This time was different. She shared how much it meant to have our team by her side every step of the way—from hospital runs to regular visits and helping her settle in with her baby. Her story is a stark reminder of the isolation many women in Pattaya face, and it confirms that because of your support, these families aren't just surviving; they are thriving together.

Reaching the Streets Our outreach efforts have reached new heights recently!

• Valentine’s Day: We distributed 2,550 Valentine Gift Bags and roses to women working in the bars. Each pack included invitations to our vocational training and free English classes.
• Education & Skills: Following the distribution, we saw a surge in English class attendance. We also hosted a free Gel-Nail class, giving women the chance to enjoy learning a creative new professional skill.
• In-Bar Classes: Thanks to the help of visiting teams in February and March, we are now even running a weekly English class inside one of the bars at the owner’s invitation!

A Season of Discovery during the school holidays: Thanks to a visiting team from the USA, our mothers and children spent a wonderful day at the newly opened Capybara Café. It was heartwarming to see the children interacting with the animals—not just the capybaras, but meerkats and turtles, too.

Growing Our Team We are thrilled to announce that after a long search, we have filled two vital Thai staff positions:

1. Outreach Center Lead: Joined us in March to help manage our center in Soi 6.
2. Certified Social Worker: Joining us on May 1st. She brings extensive experience and connections to government agencies. Her focus will be providing deep, individualized support—helping our women set goals, offering counseling, and navigating family reconnections.

Looking Ahead Our focus for the coming months is recruiting for our next Vocational and Life Training starting in July. We already have three women signed up and are praying to reach a full group of ten.
