The crisis in Syria forced hundreds of thousands of Syrian families to flee, many to neighboring Iraq. Peace Winds has been assisting families providing shelter, infrastructure, schooling, and livelihoods in northern Iraq/Kurdistan for more than 20 years. The "present Turkey/Syria border crisis" has greatly increased the flow of Kurdish and other refugees. The anticipated 250,000 refugees will need shelter, food, water. Peace Winds is responding.
Syrian refugees have fled to northern Iraq (Kurdistan) where Peace Winds is assisting with shelter, infrastructure, and livelihoods. Peace Winds will partner with the community to employ numerous refugees to build foundations and prefabricated housing, providing comfort and dignity to families. Many refugees still need food security. Now new waves of Kurdish refugees and displaced minorities are fleeing Syria needing assistance--shelter, food, and security. Peace Winds stands ready. Join us.
Peace Winds will continue to assist the refugees including the thousands of displaced minorities. We will provide prefabricated shelters to house families, affording more stability and safety. Employing the refugees in building and construction will provide training and income sorely needed by the refugee communities. Peace Winds will distribute food kits to families Peace Winds will continue its focus ensuring refugee children have schooling.
Peace Winds has more than 20 years of experience serving communities in Iraq, including internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees. The Iraqi Government recently recognized Peace Winds for its assistance to the refugees. Peace Winds is aware that refugees wish to return to their homes. Yet until they are able, the refugees desperately need assistance in shelter, food, livelihoods, and schooling. With these needs met, refugees gain stability and security, and can plan for the future.
