During the month of May, Yo quiero Yo puedo and its community work have been on the front pages of national newspapers, giving us the opportunity to continue with this work. For this reason we have dedicated ourselves to the task of raising funds to extend the eradication of child marriage.
We recently obtained funds to initiate activities in the first 10 of the 66 localities that comprise the municipality of Metlatónoc - state of Guerrero and one of the poorest municipalities in the country. We will be present in the localities, with bilingual translators, we will participate in their community assemblies, we will give interactive workshops for adults, teachers, children and leaders of each locality.
Per locality we estimate an average participation of 114 people: 70 adults from the general population, 4 teachers, 40 students from 5th grade and up. In addition, two groups of 10 women microentrepreneurs will participate in the region, who will receive training in entrepreneurial skills, and 30 people from government agencies and CSO representatives. (for example, the Women's Institute in Guerrero). With this we aspire to have a direct impact on 1190 people.
But above all to achieve the establishment of formal agreements for the prohibition of the sale of girls in the 10 localities.
