Thanks to you support, our children can learn while playing and having fun! Last month, during two days and one night, 14 children from CRAN were able to live the experience of a wonderful camp.

“We ate marshmallows, we had competitions, my team found the treasure, we wrote letters, some of which were secret, we made paper flowers, we had lots of fun. I want to go back to a camp, but at least for 10 days” 10-year-old Luz tells us.

What 9-year-old Danna loved the most was to sleep on tents and the animals that they saw: “a huge horse, baby chickens, a sheep and a frog”.

Maria Gabriela, the coordinator of the Inclusive Ideas Foundation, one of our partners on this project together with the Liceo Boston school and the Bakongo organization, explains: “the camp aims to join vulnerable communities with people from different contexts to generate an environment of equity where the participants can learn to become agents of change for peace and development of the country”.

At the camp the children learn and work with values such as honesty, respect, team work, peaceful resolution of conflict, empathy and solidarity, among others.

For Pilar, CRAN’s teacher, these experiences are very important for the children because they allow them to share with other children in a setting different from CRAN, and to socialize and have fun as they acquire tools and skills for the rest of their lifes. “The children learn how to use responsibly the resources available to them and to take care of themselves, the others and of mother nature, and they experience a real and concrete sense of inclusion”.

Thanks to your support the children that we care for and protect temporarily in CRAN are allowed to develop their potential while they wait to recover their right to have a family that loves and protects them for ever.

Gracias a tu apoyo, nuestros niños aprenden jugando y divirtiéndose. El mes pasado, durante dos días y una noche, 14 niños de CRAN pudieron vivir la experiencia de un maravilloso campamento.

“Comimos malvaviscos, hicimos pruebas, había un mapa y mi grupo encontró los tesoros, hicimos cartas y unas eran secretas, hicimos flores de papel, nos divertimos muchísimo, quiero volver a un campamento pero de 10 días”, nos cuenta Luz, de 10 años.

A Danna, de 9 años, lo que más le gustó fue dormir en carpas y los animales que vieron: “un caballo grandote, pollitos, una oveja y una rana”.

María Gabriela, coordinadora de proyectos sociales de la Fundación Inclusive Ideas, aliados en la gestión del campamento junto con el Liceo Boston y la organización Bakongo, nos explica que el campamento “busca unir comunidades vulnerables con personas de diferentes contextos para generar un ambiente de equidad en donde los participantes se formen como agentes de cambio para la paz y el desarrollo del país”.

En el campamento, los niños aprenden y trabajan valores como la honestidad, el respeto, el trabajo en equipo, la resolución pacífica de los conflictos, la empatía y solidaridad, entre otros.

Para Pilar, pedagoga de CRAN, estas experiencias son muy importantes para los niños porque les permite compartir con otros niños en espacios por fuera de CRAN, divertirse, socializar, adquirir herramientas y habilidades para la vida. “Los niños aprenden a usar con responsabilidad los recursos de los que disponen y a cuidar de ellos mismos, de los demás y de la naturaleza, al tiempo que se genera una inclusión social real y concreta”.

Gracias a tu apoyo, los niños que cuidamos y protegemos temporalmente en CRAN pueden desarrollar todo su potencial mientras recuperan su derecho a tener una familia que los ame y los cuide para siempre.

THE BEST OF HIS CLASS/ EL MEJOR DE SU CLASE

THE BEST OF HIS CLASS

Andres is 8 years old. He is very active, likes to explore the world, asks questions about everything he sees, is very warm and loves to share with everybody. He, as well as some of our other children, arrived to the CRAN Foundation with a very complex emotional situation given the circumstances of infringement of his rights that he had experienced.

When he arrived to the CRAN Foundation, the social worker and the teacher assistant registered Andres in the neighbourhood school, bought his school supplies and uniform, and he started grade one. At the beginning it was very hard for him to study and to concentrate during class. His academic results were deficient and he was demotivated and bored.

Every day the teacher assistant and the support group started to work with him to help him develop his capabilities and competencies to reach their full potential by using arts and crafts and specific reading and writing exercises. Pilar, the teacher assistant believes that “help with homework, permanent follow-up with the school, and love and care are fundamental to strengthen children’s cognitive, social and language capabilities”

Currently, Andres has improved considerably and is one of the best of his class. Every afternoon the school bus picks him up and he leaves very happy to learn new things and to spend time with his friends.

Thanks to you and to all the people that have supported our project in Global Giving we have been able cover the cost of transportation, school supplies and extra help in art, corporal expression, sports and crafts to ensure that our children have the tools to achieve their dreams and aspirations in the future.

EL MEJOR DE SU CLASE

Andrés tiene 8 años es muy inquieto, le gusta explorar el mundo, vive preguntando sobre todo lo que ve, es muy cariñoso y le encanta compartir con los demás. Él, al igual que alguno de nuestros niños y niñas, llegó a la Fundación CRAN con una situación emocional muy compleja dadas las circunstancias de vulneración de sus derechos por las que han pasado.

Cuando llegó a la Fundación CRAN la trabajadora social y la pedagoga buscaron para Andrés cupo en un colegio cercano, le compraron el uniforme y los útiles escolares y entró a primero elemental. Al principio le costaba mucho estudiar y concentrarse en clase. Su rendimiento académico era deficiente y estaba desmotivado y aburrido.

Diariamente la pedagoga y el grupo de apoyo empezaron a ayudarle a potencializar sus capacidades y competencias con clases de manualidades y ejercicios de lectoescritura específicos. Pilar la pedagoga asegura que “El apoyo en tareas, el seguimiento permanente con el colegio y el amor y el cuidado son fundamentales para fortalecer en los niños sus habilidades en aprendizajes cognitivos, sociales y del lenguaje.”

Actualmente, Andrés ha mejorado considerablemente y es uno de los primero de su clase. Todas las tardes lo recoge el bus del colegio y se va a estudiar muy feliz porque va a aprender cosas nuevas y a compartir con sus amigos.

Gracias a ti y a todas las personas que han apoyado nuestro proyecto en GlobalGiving, hemos podido cubrir el transporte, los útiles escolares, y el refuerzo en arte, en expresión corporal, deportes y manualidades para que nuestros niños y niñas tengan herramientas en el futuro para cumplir sus sueños y aspiraciones.

Learning and playing !!

Hello!!

Your contribution is very important, that is why we want to thank you for making it possible for our children to enroll in out of school sport activities that help them to develop their full potential and to learn new skills.

“Sports have given our children the possibility to learn new and useful things for life and to recover the emotional abilities, to tone down their aggressive behavior and to feel they are good at something” assures Luisa our psychologist.

On a weekly basis twenty of our children play soccer at Liceo Boston school where the practice with boys that direct them and make them run and teach them techniques and skill specially for this sport.

This is the case of Sebastián, a thirteen year old who in his practice every Saturday this last quarter has learnt “new tricks, team work, to improve my fitness and to work with the soccer ball”. He added that “when I grow up I want to be a soccer player and play in the National football team to win and triumph”.

Currently and thanks to your support and that of many friends, we have been able to find for our children sport activities such as soccer, swimming and dancing in appropriate sites and with good coaches.

With your valuable contribution you make it possible for the stories of our children, like that of Sebastian have a happy ending with a loving family who will take care of them for a lifetime.

Hola!!

Tu aporte es muy y es por esto que queremos agradecerte por hacer posible que nuestros niños puedan realizar actividades deportivas extracurriculares que les ayudan a desarrollar todo su potencial y aprender nuevas habilidades.

“Los deportes les han dado a nuestros niños la posibilidad de aprender algo nuevo y útil para la vida, a recuperar las habilidades emocionales, disminuir sus comportamientos agresivos y a que ellos sientan que son buenos para algo” asegura Luisa nuestra psicóloga.

Cada semana veinte de nuestros niños van a jugar fútbol al Colegio Liceo Boston donde practican con muchachos que los dirigen, los ponen a correr y les enseñan técnicas y pases propios del juego.

Es el caso de Sebastián de trece años, que durante todos los sábados de este trimestre en la Academia de fútbol aprendió “nuevos trucos, a trabajar en equipo, a tener mejor estado físico, y a maniobrar el balón.” Agregó que “cuando sea grande quiero ser futbolista y jugar en la selección Colombia para ganar y triunfar.”

Actualmente, gracias a tu aporte y el de muchos amigos hemos podido encontrarles a nuestros niños actividades deportivas como el fútbol, la natación y el baile en lugares adecuados y con buenos entrenadores.

Tú haces posible con tu valiosa ayuda que las historias de nuestros niños, como la de Sebastián tengan un final feliz con una familia que los ame y los cuide para toda la vida. ¡Muchas gracias por transformar vidas!
