Saludos desde Bogota! We would like to give you an update about the education programs you have supported at the CRAN Foundation.
The CRAN Foundation provides educational programs in a nurturing and protective environment allowing our children to learn at their own level. “Constructive Experiences” are an integral part of daily life for the children who live at the CRAN Foundation Home. This year we have brought educational programs to 32 children between the ages of 4 and 8 years old who are not able to attend a district school. Learning opportunities are tailored for each child depending on his or her abilities.
One of the educational programs we recently initiated is the computer classroom, a participatory space that allows the children who live in the CRAN Home to learn about and interact with technology. In this space, concepts from mathematics, reading and writing, and science, among others, are introduced and strengthened.
In the children’s play center the adult care giver becomes a facilitator and the child a protagonist of his or her own unique experience. In this environment all CRAN’s children—whether in school or not—have the opportunity to grow as individuals as they discover and strengthen their interests, identify their skills and abilities, and become creative beings.
Another of our projects is Discovery in School, a corporate social responsibility project of Discovery Networks Latin America. The aim of this project is to create interaction between children, their teachers, and care givers using educational audiovisual tools that are transmitted via the Discovery Channel.
Thanks to your support, 80% of our children already are registered and guaranteed a space in a district school for the upcoming 2014 school year which begins in January. Thank you! Without your support we could not make possible these advances in our childrens' right to education.
