Meet Tango

Tango arrives at Center of Hope

Dear Friends,

Romania Animal Rescue Homeless Animals Hospital Project is continually receiving some of the most devasting cases of injured dogs and cats. Many of the photos simply are too upsetting to share publicly. Remember, these animals are the totally abandoned and unwanted, left to fend for themselves, whose only hope is us.

Such a case is Tango:

One of the many rescuers we help is Mr. Stefan, whom we affectionately refer to as The Saint. He found Tango abandoned on the streets.

This tiny, fragile little boy, weighing barely 6 kilos, was discovered in a condition that left us all speechless. He couldn’t even hold himself up anymore. Without hesitation, Saint Stefan rushed him to the Center of Hope. And there, the harsh reality became painfully clear…

This poor dog was carrying a tumor almost as big as he is—an enormous mass, the size of a ball. The fact that he is still alive is nothing short of a miracle. But the most shocking part? We fear that he was abandoned because of this tumor. Thrown away like trash, left to die...

Tango needed surgery to rid him of the tumor. Unfortunately, the tumor was also attached to his right front leg in a way that it could not be removed without the leg, rendering little Tango a tripaw.

But not only did Tango survive, he thrived! And the best news......he is now adopted in Holland thanks to our adoption partners there!

Your generous donations allow for Tango and countless others to be rescued, treated and find loving homes.

Greetings Friends,

In 2024, the Homeless Animals Hospital project treated over 4000 patients, animals that were in misery with no means to get care. Your donations did that.....giving them the care they would otherwise never have. Endless thanks to you for your support!

Our charity work is vital to get these poor souls, who have had miserable lives and injuries, treated and recovered so that they may find loving homes through our local and international adoption partners. Romania Animal Rescue works at 2 clinics in Romania, Center of Hope near Bucharest, and Family Vet in Craiova. Our partnership began with Dr. Aurelian in 2008, and in 2011 we began our partnerships with Family Vet and later Center of Hope, COH having been built in 2016-2017 thanks to donations and support from Dr. Aurelian and Dr. Petrisor. Center of Hope is our hub in Romania, providing the first of its kind social services for animals with highest quality surgeries, treatments and state of the art equipment. It is our belief that homeless, rescued, or abused animals should not suffer because no one can pay for them.

Here are a few of our recent stories:

Sirma was found with a hunter's snare dug deep into her neck (xray photo of wire imbedded into her neck withheld intentionally). She was a terrified puppy, and rightfully so. All she had known of humans is that they hurt her. She is currently at Center of Hope recovering and waiting until the right home with the right person can be found for her.

Our next patient is darling Keira, she who was discovered by our partners from Ilfov Animal Services while they were attending to horses in a village. Keira, a small pile of dog that no one sees.... A hard slap on her tender head, so she lost an eye, but luckily not her faith. Broken teeth, a jaw full of pain, yet her soul remained pure and sweet. One eye less, but a heart of gold, Keira's love for humans remains strong and trusting. Chantal and Madelon knew she deserved so much more and found her the perfect home with Judith in Holland. Now Keira can live out her golden years in a loving home in Holland.

Meet Bijou! This brave girl who was found on the streets having been attacked while in heat. Her condition was so serious she needed emergency surgery to remove her uterus and treat her wounds. Thankfully both surgery and recovery went smoothly. Today she finally got to leave Center of Hope, and with amazing news: Bijou will now live with Irina's parents! No more life on the streets. No more living in fear or survival mode. And the best news, No chance to ever be in heat again, EVER. Thanks to you, this vulnerable girl now has a chance at a happy future.

Darling girl Cherry. She was brought into Center of Hope by a good Samaritan who found her wandering the street with a huge mass. The giant tumor she carried with her for months is now just a bad memory. And she is one of the lucky ones, a marvelous loving home was found for her in Holland, once again thanks to our international adoption partner Stichting Le Woef.

Our motto is "together we are stronger", and no truer words were ever said. Thanks to our partners, our donors, our friends and emotional supporters, volunteers, and community, we will continue to help these vulnerable animals.

Update About Our Work at HAH

Job after the Saint rescued him

Greetings Friends and Supporters,

We wish you well during this upcoming Fall season. Things have been extremely busy at Center of Hope (COH) hospital Bucharest area and Family Vet Craiova clinic. Patients are arriving every day who are in desperate need of help. Here are a few of their stories:

*Job was taken by our rescuer Mr. Stefan (aka the Saint). Rescued from the streets, this old, bald skinny boy was in terrible shape. Painful bones, a body full of scabies, exhausted by dehydration and broken by grief. He arrived at Center of Hope hospital and was treated treated under the Homeless Animals Hospital project thanks to our supporters. He remained at COH for over a month. Traces of a chain that are marked on his neck. Yes this boy had a lot to endure.....but despite everything he kept wagging his tail endlessly. And now he has every reason to do so. Our wonderful Jane in Maine is adopting him. He left today (Tuesday September 17) to go to his forever loving home where he will live out the final years of his life as a beloved family member.

*We were contacted by people on Facebook asking for help for a dog wandering in a field with a plastic bottle on its head. The location was a couple hours away, however our amazing vet tech Ovidiu was able to reach her and after much patience and many trials he was able to tranquilize this poor stray and remove the bottle from her head. She is severely traumatized, and we found out that this bottle had been on her head since last December. She is now at Center of Hope and has recovered from her physical wounds with treatment by Homeless Animal Hospital project supporters. She is still at COH and looking for a home with an understanding family who will give her compassion and trust in humans.

*We named her Teddy Bear. A rescuer called us in desperate need having found her and her dead sibling in a hole. Teddy Bear was infested with fleas and severly anemic. She needed blood transfusions to live. Thanks to Homeless Animal Hospital project donors she arrived at COH. She was put into isolation to prevent her from succumbing to parvo, and treated with blood transfusions and for internal and external parasites. And now Teddy Bear has a loving home. Isn't she precious?

We work every single day to help the animals. Now with over 131,000 spays and neuters, over 10,800 in 2023 alone to prevent animals from being born to suffer. And with treatments for approximately 4000 dogs and cats per year, some of whom are under the Homeless Animals Hospital project. We are now listed as a Top Charity of 2024 on Greatnonprofits.org.
