Love and hope are Alison's cure

By Laura Botero | Project Leader

Alison is an 8-year-old girl who is currently in our Children's Hospital San Vicente Fundación after several weeks of showing symptoms such as headache, nausea, and stomach pain. Finally, her mother angie decided to consult. Alison was diagnosed with a dysfunction of the ventriculoperitoneal shunt system, or hydrocephalus which corresponds to a syndrome characterized by cognitive impairment and impairment and a sphincter control disorder. Hydrocephalus is one of the most important and frequent neurosurgical pathologies due to its implication in intracranial hypertension (ICP), increasing the morbidity of patients who suffer from it.

Different tests have been performed at our Hospital and have served to continue controlling the little girl's disease.

Alison takes advantage of her time at the hospital by continuing to learn, play and spend quality time with her mother. The teachers at the aula hospitalaria have given her coloring books and pictures, as this is one of the hobbies she enjoys the most. Angie comes to the classroom every day to borrow toys and materials for the activities that the teachers propose for the children's learning and entertainment.

Alison and her mother are very grateful to the Children's Hospital, the specialists, and the teachers of the classroom since they affirm that human quality is one of the factors that represent them, as well as that they do their job very well.
