199th day of the war

Hugs for support
Hugs for support

After the first week of hostilities, the organization is approached by about 100 people a day, and today the organization provides more than 2,000 locals and internally displaced persons in need of psychological and humanitarian assistance. Every day the number of people traveling to Odessa in search of security or as a transit point on the way to Romania or Moldova.

People who have already applied to government agencies and registered with us come to our organization with help. People say that they are only "interrogated" or are not interviewed at all because of the large number of people and queues. People have to queue at 6 am to get to the Center for Administrative Services to register for cash assistance from the State ($ 66 per month). Our psychologists are also approached daily by mothers with children who need consultations for themselves and their children, and it is difficult to explain to children that there is a war going on. People will need not only food and hygiene kits, but also utensils, clothes, baby diapers, baby formula, etc.

People do not just come for food and hygiene kits, they come for the advice and friendly support that our social workers will gladly offer. After all, no one was ready to lose their own home, their own clothes and what they had gained all their lives.

One of the most important components of the work of the “Faith, Hope, Love” team is the provision of social services and psychological support, counseling and support for vulnerable groups in the city of Odessa and internally displaced persons from hostilities. Especially diverse help of our specialists is needed by those people who have a bad psychological state, physical or financial. In general, within this component of the work, the organization's social workers made a plan to support clients, deliver medicine and humanitarian aid, address social issues: providing temporary shelter, purchasing food, liaising with other social services depending on the client's needs, and purchasing and providing hygiene items. In a state of constant hostilities, the work of the organization has been completely reformatted and all efforts are aimed at supporting those who need it.

That is why at the beginning of June, thanks to the support of GlobalGiving and your donations, a HUB (safe place) was opened for internally displaced persons who were forced to leave their homes due to russian aggression and move to Odesa region. At the beginning of autumn, about 130,000 IDPs were already registered in the Odesa region.

On the basis of the HUB, people can receive humanitarian assistance (food, hygiene and household kits, diapers, medicines, baby food, etc.), as well as receive the necessary psychological assistance: individual psychological consultations, as well as take part in psychological first aid training.

The HUBis opened from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for more than three months. Every day, about 100 IDPs come to us for various help. During the entire time of operation of the HUB, 6000 persons have already received help.

Developmental classes for children are also held at the base of the HUB, while their mothers attend psychological trainings.

Also, social workers of the HUB advise and redirect people to those places where they can still get help, for example, financial, housing search, employment assistance, legal consultations, help in concluding a declaration with a family doctor, testing for HIV and STDs, etc. Thank you for your generous support!

Glory to Ukraine!
