Keeping up with our team care

By Juanita Esguerra | Communications officer

The situation of children and adolescents in the world has taken a turn that worries different organizations and authorities, due to the significant increase in violence against children during the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Colombia alone, according to figures from the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), there has been an increase in cases of threats or violation of the rights of children and adolescents, related to situations of sexual and physical violence, abandonment, omission or negligence, mistreatment and threats to their integrity. Faced with these worrying figures and the alerts made by the authorities, CRAN Foundation continues its commitment to protect children in Colombia.

We want to thank you for making it possible for the children and adolescents that we temporarily take in, to have the care they need with which they can grow, develop fully and have a family.

CRAN is the temporary home for 62 children between the ages of 0 and 8 years old. It is also the space where people work to ensure that each of the processes of the Foundation is fully complied with, thus achieving the welfare of our children.

Caring is a demanding and satisfying task; it demands time, physical, mental and emotional effort. In addition, when caring for children, it is essential to carry out daily activities and routines in a safe and loving environment. This has traditionally been the daily work of the CRAN caregiver teams. Throughout this quarter, we continued the training process in TBRI (Trust-Based Relational Intervention), in which we conducted follow-up and accompaniment sessions, taking into account the routines and changes in the structure of the shifts of our assistants, who went from 24 to 12 hour shifts. With this we guarantee a specialized preparation for our professionals, so that our children can count on the best care.
