I take care of myself to take care of others

Thanks to your support and collaboration our 62 children at CRAN have caring, protective, and loving environment that makes it possible for accompaniment they need to develop their full potential.

Since April we have been working on Me Cuido para cuidar, a project that leads our Prevention team where we seek to empower and sensitize our caretakers and technical staff so that through their be an assertive example for our children and at the same time can continue to provide them with a healthy environment.

This year has brought great challenges in mental and physical health issues, that's why we have various trainings, workshops and one-on-one attention with our caretakers and technical team personnel. We also adapted a room for them
of rest and recreation.

Thanks to your donations the CRAN Foundation has been able to carry out this type of programs that help strengthen new tools for to guarantee the health of all the children of our Foundation.

Gracias a tu apoyo y colaboración nuestros 62 niños en CRAN cuentan con ambiente cuidador, protector y amoroso que logra que puedan tener el acompañamiento que necesitan para desarrollar todo su potencial.

Desde abril trabajamos en Me cuido para cuidar, un proyecto que lidera nuestro equipo de Prevención donde buscamos potencializar y sensibilizar a nuestras cuidadoras y personal del área técnica para que a través de su autocuidado sean un ejemplo asertivo para nuestros niños y a su vez puedan seguir brindándoles un ambiente sano.

Este año ha traído grandes retos en temas de salud mental y física, es por eso que hemos realizado varias capacitaciones, talleres y atención uno a uno con nuestras cuidadoras y personal del equipo técnico. También les adecuamos una sala
de descanso y esparcimiento.

Gracias a sus donaciones la Fundación CRAN ha logrado llevar a cabo este tipo de programas que ayudan a fortalecer nuevas herramientas para garantizar la salud de todos los niños de nuestra Fundación.

We want to thank you for making it possible for children and adolescents we temporarily host, to have the care they need with which they can grow, develop fully and have a family.

CRAN is the foster home for 62 children who enter between the ages of 0 and 8. Likewise, it is the space where people work who guarantee that each of the Foundation's processes is fully complied with, thus achieving the well-being of our children.

Caring is a demanding and satisfying job; it demands time, physical, mental and emotional effort. Furthermore, when children are cared for, it is essential to carry out daily activities and routines in a safe and loving environment. This has traditionally been the daily work of the caregiver teams at CRAN. 

Due to the difficult situation that the whole world is going through due to Covid-19, at CRAN we have been forced to make a training strategy for caregivers that allows us to ensure protection and care in health issues and prevention of contagion of the children and adolescents and the personnel who assist in the care and attention of them at the foundation.

To achieve this, since April the Prevention team has implemented the strategy "I take care of myself to take care of others" for the accompaniment of institutional Home caregivers with activities that strengthen skills of self-care, conflict resolution, affective bonding and practical parenting, implementing new moments and meanings in their routines. Caregivers are aware of their abilities to take charge of their physical conditions and well-being. Likewise, they adopt dynamics of continuous improvement for coexistence and relationships among themselves and with the children and implement emotional and physical recovery practices to carry out their role and promote safe and loving environments.

A first group workshop was held among the social worker of the CRAN prevention program together with the 15 caregivers who currently carry out their work with the children. In this reflective space, the most important issues to work on were identified to achieve strengthening in teamwork and coexistence during this time of confinement and in the daily work at the Foundation. Likewise, individual phone calls are made where personal, work and family issues are worked on as accompaniment to the caregivers in order to improve each of the individual aspects to ensure positive performance and attitude within the workplace. 

One of the most important issues that the project "I take care of myself" has worked on is mindfulness, where the recognition of the differences of the other and the management of tolerance and empathy with respect to each of the caregivers in relationship to their peers. With this strengthening, adaptability to change is also worked with respect to the rotation of shifts and responsibilities depending on the ages of the children that correspond in each shift for each of the caregivers. 

The project also motivates caregivers to learn about self-care issues from the current situation in relation to Covid - 19, but also towards different diseases, especially of a mental and psychological nature that can affect their development in the work environment. Learning not to bring problems home from work and back has also been discussed during this time. The caregivers have informative and didactic material for a better knowledge and understanding of the issues that are discussed in each particular case according to the needs of each person.

Thanks to donations, CRAN has been able to carry out this protection and self-care strategy necessary to provide well-being and safety during this time of special care due to the pandemic. Because of your generous support, the Foundation continues to transform the lives of children and adolescents in vulnerable situations in Colombia.

Queremos agradecerte por hacer posible que los niños, niñas y adolescentes que acogemos temporalmente, tengan el cuidado que necesitan con el que pueden crecer, desarrollarse plenamente y tener una familia.

CRAN es el hogar temporal de 62 niños que ingresan entre los 0 y los 8 años. Así mismo es el espacio donde trabajan personas que garantizan que cada uno de los procesos de la Fundación se cumpla a cabalidad, logrando así el bienestar de nuestros niños.

Cuidar es una labor exigente y satisfactoria; demanda tiempo, esfuerzo físico, mental y emocional. Además, cuando se cuidan niños y niñas es indispensable realizar las actividades y rutinas cotidianas en medio de un ambiente seguro y amoroso. Este ha sido tradicionalmente el quehacer diario de los equipos de cuidadoras en CRAN.

Debido a la difícil situación por la que atraviesa el mundo entero por el Covid-19, en CRAN nos hemos visto obligados a hacer una estrategia de capacitación a las cuidadoras que nos permite asegurar la protección y el cuidado en temas de salud y prevención de contagio de los niños, niñas y adolescentes y el personal que asiste para el cuidado y atención de ellos que viven en la fundación.

Para lograrlo, desde el mes de abril el equipo de Prevención ha puesto en marcha de la estrategia “Me cuido para cuidar” para el acompañamiento de las cuidadoras de Hogar institucional con actividades que fortalecen competencias de autocuidado, resolución de conflicto, vínculo afectivo y prácticas de crianza, implementando nuevos momentos y significados en sus rutinas. Las cuidadoras son conscientes de sus capacidades para hacerse cargo de sus condiciones y bienestar físico. Así mismo adoptan dinámicas de mejoramiento continuo para la convivencia y relaciones entre ellas y con los niños e implementan prácticas de recuperación emocional y física para llevar a cabo su rol y fomentar ambientes seguros y amorosos. 

Se realizó un primer taller grupal entre la trabajadora social del programa de prevención de CRAN junto con las 15 cuidadoras que actualmente cumplen su labor con los niños. En este espacio reflexivo se identificaron los temas más importantes a trabajar para lograr el fortalecimiento en el trabajo en equipo y la convivencia durante este tiempo de confinamiento y en el trabajo diario en la Fundación. Así mismo se hacen llamadas telefónicas individuales en donde se trabajan temas personales, laborales y familiares como acompañamiento a las cuidadoras con el fin de mejorar cada uno de los aspectos individuales para asegurar el rendimiento y actitud positivos dentro del espacio laboral.

Uno de los temas más importantes que ha trabajado el proyecto “Me cuido para cuidar,” es la atención plena en donde se hace el reconocimiento de diferencias del otro y el manejo de la tolerancia y la empatía con respecto a cada una de las cuidadoras en relación a sus compañeras. Con este fortalecimiento se trabaja también la adaptabilidad al cambio con respecto a la rotación de turnos y de responsabilidades dependiendo de las edades de los niños que corresponda en cada turno para cada una de las cuidadoras.

El proyecto también motiva a las cuidadoras a informarse en temas de autocuidado desde la situación actual con relación al Covid – 19, pero también hacia diferentes enfermedades en especial de carácter mental y psicológico que pueden afectar su desarrollo en el ambiente laboral. Aprender a no llevar problemas del trabajo a la casa y viceversa también se ha tratado durante este tiempo. Las cuidadoras cuentan con material informativo y didáctico para un mejor conocimiento y entendimiento de los temas que se tratan en casa caso particular según las necesidades de cada persona.

Gracias a las donaciones CRAN ha logrado llevar a cabo esta estrategia de protección y autocuidado necesario para dar bienestar y seguridad durante este tiempo de especial cuidado debido a la pandemia.
