Equip African Teens to Succeed

What can 30 minutes a week and access to a computer do? Send teens to top notch universities and into jobs that change lives and communities at a rate 150% higher their peers! You are the reason our teens have been achieving these results for over a decade. 

Since 2009, 88% of teens who are mentored by Infinite Family through 12^th grade achieved the top two levels of graduation qualification. This compares to 57% of all other South African students. Furthermore, the additional 12% of Infinite Family teens qualified for excellent vocational college programs. Thanks to you, 100% of Infinite Family 12^th grade mentored teens will advance to tertiary studies and new opportunities for economic stability and independence!

Growing up in South Africa’s townships, our Net Buddies don’t expect to graduate high school because just at the time they need to be developing habits and skills -- including resilience, resourcefulness and responsibility -- that will make them productive and self-reliant, their daily reality includes:

• Food insecurity, due to rampant unemployment and extreme poverty.
• Toxic stress caused by constant, pervasive violence.
• Insufficient contact with positive role models at home (where one or both parents may be missing), school or in their community.
• Low expectations of prospects for success, either by themselves or those around them.  

So why should they expect to break the mold? Because, even if they don’t know it yet, they can! Thanks to your generosity making sure they have an Infinite Family Video Mentor to guide them, we know they will.

Your support during these past two very difficult years has been awe-inspiring! Thanks to you, support and services for teens living in South Africa’s toughest townships have increased and they begin their exams better prepared than they expected to be.

You have our deep gratitude for erecting a new double-decker LaunchPad in Alexandra township! This bright, clean and safe learning space will provide 22 additional computers and seven private video conversation rooms to existing and new Net Buddies who have experienced significant loss and cutbacks throughout their community. 

In addition, you provided 10 Microsoft online skills training certification courses to our Net Blazer alums and to other young adults in our township communities. These new skills, which are confirmed and documented prominently on LinkedIn by the Global Skills Initiative, will position our Net Blazers at the front of the line for future jobs as the world emerges from the pandemic and gets back to business.
