Days of change: Looking at a new horizon

By Sebastian De los Heros Salazar | Co-coordinator of Agroforestry Program

This beginning of the year, as usual in the Ucayali region, the rain frequency has increased. Therefore one of the mayor challenges has been to reach Santa Clara, where we working together with the young Shipibo-Konibo who want to be agents of change in their town. The increase in the level of the waters of the rivers and channels has blocked the usual routes of transportation and this has forced us to look for other ways to access.

This situation has not prevented us from continuing to work on the planning of new initiatives, although now with a different purpose: to strengthen the management of financial resources. We have entered a new stage, in which we recognize the need to promote, generate and administrate economic resources for self-management and the support of the Santa Clara Youth Association (AJSC). In that sense, together with the  Association we have planned to develop a poultry farm. At the moment, we are training on poultry production and management tools to execute the project.

Besides, we continue to fulfill our planned activities. We still have a cultural exchange and talks of environmental problems under the audiovisual methodology. Soon we will be giving more details of this meeting between young people from different communities, where we will be the hosts!

Do you like the work we are doing?

If so, the best way to support us at this moment is to contribute through this platform with what you can. Every penny is highly valued and used in the best way.

Let's continue supporting young people for their empowerment and capacity building!
