Did you know that this year the 3rd African Youth SDGs Summit will be held on the 1-3 July 2020 in Ghana? The African Youth SGs Summit is the largest youth gathering on the Sustainable Development goals.
As the GVI Trust aligns to the SDGs, we are looking to send one exceptional student attend this Summit. This Summit will present a critical point of reflection / turning point towards unleashing the full potential of the youth to deliver the SDGs in the next decade.
The youth of Africa have a critical stake in ensuring the SDGs are achieved and a vital role in contributing towards their achievement.
What objectives is the Summit trying to achieve? The summit is trying achieve:
- Improve awareness and knowledge among the youth about the SDGs and their roles in the implementation, review and accountability process.
- Discuss the mechanisms and strategies for localising the SDGs and ensuring greater ownership by the youth.
- Develop new and strengthen existing youth networks to engage and monitor the implementation of SDGs.
- Advocate for effective participation of African Youth in SDG programmes affecting them
The overall goal of the Summit is to create a platform for the youth to develop strategies to influence policies and programmes to ensure that implementation of actions relating to SDGs don not only benefit them but also effectively involve them.
